After winning back-to-back state championships in 2023 and 2024, and with their star players returning for one final season in 2025, it seemed predestined that the Longhorns would breeze to a 3-peat. But 3 months before the 2025 season kicked off, the town was hit by a tornado with winds in excess of 100 miles per hour. In a span of minutes, the Longhorns lost all of their athletic facilities, including the football field. But the town recovered from the devastation, and now the team has more to play for than accolades or another trophy.
